How Coding With Oscar Works
Coding with Oscar introduces children to the world of coding through tactile, interactive screen-free play and story-based learning. The system requires no apps, tablets or computers – instead uses tactile snap-together electronic parts to teach real coding skills.
We use coding pieces called KLIX. By snapping them to the coding block you can make things happen. Follow the story book characters to learn. To make your own code all you do is snap the KLIX in the order you want things to happen. There is no right or wrong way, you just snap them from the top to the bottom of your coding block and push the Play button to see what the code will do.

Advanced users can also extend themselves by utilising more construction in their projects or controlling their models with code and motors. By using the scoring capabilities of the Oscar system a range of board games can be played.
parent and teacher Resources
Parents and teachers have access to additional resources to help their children get the most educational value out of their Coding with Oscar system, including: Kit 1 Quick Start Guide (tri-fold) and Reference Guide (download edition).
Exclusive to Gen2 class-sets, the EduKey KLIX is used to provide the teacher/educator with parameters about how the coding module was used that lesson, that week or that semester. This means the teacher only needs to track which student is assigned to which coding module.

Coding with Oscar has been designed by the team at KodeKLIX® - a system designed to teach school children Year 4-7 about coding and electronics. Seeing how kids used KodeKLIX® sets in classrooms was the inspiration to develop a system that could help our younger children. Younger kids might not be able to type or spell but they can certainly learn coding through play.
