How We Taught an AI to Write Coding Adventure Stories
Creating storybooks for Coding with Oscar is no small task. Each book needs to introduce coding concepts in a logical sequence, carefully increasing complexity while still telling an engaging story filled with friendship, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Doing that for one age group is tough. Doing it for several, from 5-year-olds to 12-year-olds, is even tougher—especially when their reading levels and storytelling needs vary so dramatically.
So… we let AI take a crack at it.

- Analysed the reading level of our existing, hand-crafted stories.
- Rewrote one example for different age groups.
- Transformed it into new formats—like comics.
- Generated comic imagery, nudging the AI when it missed the mark.
